  Zach truly tested his mettle as editor in chief of The Daily Cougar. He handled the intellectual, emotional and political pressures of the job with confidence and skill. A daily newspaper, especially a student-driven one, is highly sensitive to leadership cues, but Zach was a steady hand and well respected by his peers. He held himself and others to high standards, but allowed his staff the room to make mistakes and grow. The newsroom is a stressful, difficult work environment, but Zach's abundant, infectious energy made it lively, engaging and fun to be in. Looking back on his editorship, I think Zach proved to himself he could take on immense challenges and not only survive, but thrive.

  Zach is a great person to work with. He spent a summer at CEEAD as a Summer Fellow in 2010. He was always eager to learn more about Mexican law and legal education, to get involved in different projects and to know more about different cultures.
