Bill came in to manage a highly visible tools group of which I was a part. He had many refreshing ideas on how to manage and motivate the team, how to facilitate our internal tools development efforts and how to interact with the larger software development community at STK in ways that helped with our credibility and the adoption of the tools we were developing. A talented leader, he is one I would follow again if presented the opportunity.
Bill came in to manage the Tools Development group at StorageTek as a fairly young guy with a high-powered reputation – and lived up to every bit of it. He was very smart, an excellent communicator, knew what he was talking about, had lots of great ideas, and worked very hard to bring order and discipline to the group. He enabled us to be a better team, and I was sorry to see him go.
Bill was an excellent manager who has a high level of technical knowledge and a strong understanding of how to manage people. He's one of the best I've ever had the pleasure of working for and would do so again. Best of luck to you my friend, Rich
I did some contract work with/for Bill when he was working in the military, and when he took the management job at StorageTek, he offered me a job and I jumped at the opportunity. Bill is a very focused, organized and effective manager to work for. He's very good at keeping various projects on track and is very good at keeping both management and the technical staff informed of all aspects of the projects they're involved with. I would work with and/or for Bill again without any reservations or hesitation.
William is a hard working manager and an excellent mentor-type. He'll take care of his staff and work really hard to ensure they are happy and compensated well. It was a pleasure working for William in the past and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
As the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, I hired Bill Harding in the mid-1990's to be the manager of the Factory Information Systems group at Maxtor Corporation, a high volume disk drive manufacturer in Longmont, Colorado. Bill had a good work ethic, he communicated exceptionally well, in both written and verbal modes, and he was very dependable. I believe Bill was respected by the employees who reported to him, as I never had any chats with his team members expressing the contrary. Bill is a very bright man, and his system knowledge under my employ was always excellent. He was regarded as the guy who would get the solution implemented through his team.
