Sue Parker helped my family after the death of an elderly aunt left an estate without a will, a condemned house, and 2 grown sons disabled by schizophrenia. It took almost 2 years before a court finally assigned me as an estate administrator and after 4 years, we have yet to close the estate. Sue did not assume responsibilities as estate attorney because our complex situation has facets outside her specific area of expertise, but she’s been instrumental in navigating the way. She’s a savvy attorney with a knowledge of the world and a deep empathy for those of us who may be impacted. I’ve trusted her advice at several critical junctures and recommend her whole-heartedly.

About

I am a person who has always enjoyed helping people - a large part of the reason I became a lawyer. I came up through the ranks in large law firms and worked as a tax lawyer at Texaco - but discovered I preferred helping people one on one. Now I get to do what I think is best, including making house calls to make it easier for people who have physical challenges. I know first-hand what this can be like.
I have an extensive and diverse background in subjects related to estate planning including tax planning, employee benefits and entrepreneurship. I'm a tax lawyer by training so I have a skillset that is not often found in a small firm in Westchester County. Plus I'm also licensed to practice law in Florida for those who are snowbirds.
I work with people who get married, need pre-nups, or want to have plans in place because they have children or want to start a business. and can also help clients create trusts or build a family business into their estate plans. My skills also include counseling clients on asset protection for Medicaid.
When it comes to elder law, I've been the position that many of my clients find themselves in: shepherding a parent through their golden years. I know what it's like when emotional and economic concerns meet. Because of my experience with my own parents, I've become a better lawyer.
I've developed a ine of legal self-help books - [www.reallifelegal.com] to help people figure out when they need a lawyer. They're like "Cliff's Notes" for the law - if you remember what that is.
And I am an avid pet lover and volunteer my legal talents on behalf of the SPCA of Briarcliff Manor. For my own fun, I love to be with my dog Kurbis, walk on the beach, paint and write.
