As an armchair attorney, I thought I needed contracts that required a forklift to deliver to the client and several types of business entities just for my camera. Steve was kind, patient, efficient and I have a great deal of respect for the work he has chosen to take on. Whether you're in business or in art (you're still in business), Steve is the first and last attorney you should retain.
Steve is a professional and talented person to work with. Very good friend as well.
Steve did law work for us in a software startup company. His work was clean and efficient and we were satisfied. His ability to get INTO our business - to understand our challenges and needs - that was what really set him a part from other lawyers. He rolled his sleeves up and worked with us in the trenches. His diverse background allowed him to really understand and relate to our experience and needs - which allowed him to serve and guide us better. Terrific person with integrity and character. I'd recommend him to any person or business. I wish there were more people like him in business today.
Of the many professionals I've come to know during my banking career, Steve stands out. He is a highly ethical, well-spoken, sharp-minded, and polite gentleman whose presence commands attention. Steve is a professional that I would want on my side not only because of his business and legal expertise, but also because he clearly stands for what he believes in. We need more people like Steve and I'm thankful I've been afforded the opportunity to do business with him.
Steve is a great legal resource. Beyond handling the mechanics of intellectual property work, he's been especially helpful in terms of education, advice and general guidance on IP strategy. Steve is also very personable and genuinely wants to help move your technology business forward.
Steve is the best kind of attorney for a small business owner: creative, flexible and knowledgeable, and conscious of the need to work efficiently yet thoroughly. He also pulls in additional subject matter experts when appropriate. When the world is throwing lemons at you, Steve is great at making lemonade!
Steve is a great, details-oriented guy to have in your corner for all matters legal, approval, or organizational. I have worked with him on a number of projects, all with successful outcomes. Recommended.
Steve does a fabulous job of taking the hassle and stress out of legal business. His unique experience gives him insight into whatever issue I bring to him, allowing him to cut through all the haze and expose the real, substantive issues that are at the heart of any legal agreement. If you want a lawyer that you can actually understand, and that understands you, I would highly recommend Steve Rich.
Steve is a conscientious attorney who is willing to go above and beyond for his clients and associates. It is always a pleasure working with Steve.
I worked with Steve for a time as a law partner. Steve is extremely bright, engaging, and analytical in a creative way. Don't expect a traditional suit and tie lawyer. Steve rolls up his sleeves to meet his client's needs and get the job done. He may do it in a way that goes against convention, but it is just as effective, if not more. He is ideally suited for small companies, entrepeneurs, and anyone else who wants somebody to go to bat for them, work hard, and get results. I trust him completely and would not hesitate to recommend him.
Attorneys who work with artists need to understand the creative mind and its intolerance of excessively obscure concepts and language. Steve is wonderful at explaining complex legal subjects in terms the ordinary person can understand. He's also mindful of the importance of building trust with the client, is responsive to all concerns raised, and offers excellent work at a reasonable fee. I would highly recommend him (and have) to other creative types.
I've had the privilege of working with Steve at Ann Arbor SPARK. He provides legal services and advice to many of my incubator tenants. He has also been gracious enough to advise me on side projects I've worked on. His easy-going demeanor makes him a pleasure to work with.
Steve is a very professional person to work with. Very good attitude and very dedicated to his profession. Lisa Monteforte
If you want an attorney who you don't dread getting a call from (far from it), who is encouraging, up front and honest, creative, patient, and exceedingly fair minded, hire Steve. If you'd prefer to feel intimidated, or out of the loop, or like you don't know what your options are, then definitely go elsewhere. Steve only deals in good vibes.
Steve is a rare find. He's level-headed and practical but always thinking creatively. He's a lawyer who feels at home on the web. He understands the potential of new technologies and embraces their possibilities.
