I was referred to Sonja Nyberg in 2016 to represent me in my divorce from my husband//business partner. Ms. Nyberg came highly recommended to me by another attorney who had conducted a mediation between myself and husband (at the time). She helped me navigate the painful process of divorce, along with the complicated addition of owning a business with my, soon to be, ex-husband. Divorce is never easy, and I felt 100% supported throughout every difficult decision, conversation, setback and curveball. Ms. Nyberg's approach helped me feel seen and respected as a person, and not just a case to "win". Ms. Nyberg was always open and willing to explain details of my divorce that I didn't understand (over and over again, at times!). She never once made me feel ashamed for "not knowing", or like I was asking a stupid question. She made it clear that she was their to help me in whatever way I needed. Ms. Nyberg was consistent with her communication, reliable with her deadlines, and efficient with our time. I never once questioned her credibility or expertise. I can speak first hand to the quality, knowledge, dedication, honesty and attention to detail, that Ms. Nyberg brings to the table. I have (and will) recommend her to others. She brings integrity, knowledge, compassion, and wisdom to very difficult, emotionally charged and painful situations. My divorce is now finalized. I spent a year working with Ms. Nyberg, and I can honestly say that she made a terrible time in my life more hopeful and safe. I will forever be grateful for the experience I had, and the support I received.
I had a fairly simple question, and she answered it well, going above and beyond to give me additional advice. I marked yes I would recommend, but I wish there were a third choice, "Not sure," because a recommendation based on such a brief exchange seems meaningless.

After graduating law school in 2010, Sonja secured a judicial clerkship in Hennepin County Family Court. She worked on high asset divorce cases with complex financial matters as well as high conflict custody disputes. Sonja learned firsthand how judicial officers decide cases and what makes a family law attorney effective inside and outside of the courtroom.
After clerking, Sonja worked for a large, national law firm. As an Associate Attorney, Sonja worked on numerous cases and gained a tremendous amount of experience. Sonja provides her clients with "big firm" quality representation without the unnecessary overhead costs.
