A native of Houston, Texas, Miriah Soliz joined the firm in 2017 as a law clerk, and is now advocating on behalf of plaintiffs as one of our associate attorneys. She is committed to working with clients and their loved ones on a daily basis. Miriah came to understand at a young age just how important the role of an attorney-client relationship can be for someone trying to find their way in the justice system. She became interested in the law and speaking on behalf of others to ensure that their rights and needs are recognized after volunteering in several legal organizations. Seeing firsthand how an attorney can give a voice to someone who would otherwise be silenced had a significant impact on Miriah. She wanted to be a fierce advocate for the less fortunate and make a difference in the lives of ordinary people.
To fulfill her dream of becoming an attorney, Miriah attended the University of Houston Honors College where she graduated, with honors, and received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. After college, Miriah received a scholarship and attended law school at Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, where she was distinguished both in her academic pursuits as well as in competitions such as mock trial and client negotiation simulation. While in law school, Miriah received the Negotiation and Leadership Certificate at Harvard University, and served overseas as a law clerk for the Supreme Court of India. While in New Delhi, Miriah utilized her legal research and writing skills to assist with both their civil and criminal cases.
Miriah worked in several top law firms while pursuing her legal education. As a result, she honed her skills litigating personal injury claims long before receiving her bar membership. She has extensive experience in navigating the multiple stages of litigation, including managing discovery, drafting legal documents, leading depositions, and assisting at trial in matters from empaneling jurors to successfully arguing against defenses’ claims in front of a judge.
Miriah now uses her considerable legal knowledge and extensive background to serve on the team of experienced attorneys at Morrow & Sheppard LLP. She shares the Firm’s vision of making sure people and small businesses have their voices head when pitted against large corporations and insurance carriers.
Outside of work, Ms. Soliz is involved in various state bar associations such as Houston Young Lawyers, where she often mentors underprivileged youth interested in joining the legal field. She also is a member of the civil rights and social action group, Child Advocates, which mobilizes court appointed volunteers to break the vicious cycle of child abuse by speaking up for abused children who are lost in the system.
