  As Chair of the Dorsainvil Foundation (DFI), a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical care to the people of Haiti, we had the pleasure of Midwin Charles as our Keynote Speaker and recipient of the 2019 DFI Catalyst Award at our Annual Summer Gala in New York.   Midwin Charles is well known in the legal community and media industry for her firm's work in commercial litigation, criminal law, and civil rights. In addition to her professional activities, she passionately advocates and volunteers for various community-based organizations focused on equity and inclusion. In particular, Ms. Charles has been a long-time supporter of the Urban Assembly School for Law & Justice (SLJ), a law-theme public high school located in Brooklyn, New York. Many of the students at SLJ live in under-resourced communities and will be the first in their families to attend and graduate from college.
