Mia S. McPherson uses her 18+ years of experience as a Public Defender for DuPage County, private defense counsel, Local Prosecutor and a fierce family law advocate to benefit clients of The Law Offices of Mia S. McPherson, P.C. at every stage and every level of the courtroom process.
Her inside perspective gained as a public defender and a local prosecutor, as well as her experience conducting countless jury and bench trials, gives Mia the edge. She has experience in prosecuting and defending DUI, Driving While License Suspended, Domestic Battery, and many other types of misdemeanor and felony cases. She uses her unique experience to help her review the facts and circumstances of every client’s arrest and factual basis to develop new and successful criminal defense strategies.
In the family law arena, she uses her extensive experience in the courtroom to further divorce negotiations and reach amicable settlements whenever possible. She is well versed in the new divorce laws promulgated as the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution of Marriage Act, effective January 1, 2016.
Mia grew up in a small town in Indiana.  She attended Purdue University and received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Purdue University in May 1995.  She furthered her education by attending DePaul University College of Law, Chicago, Illinois, graduating with her Juris Doctorate in 1998.  Shortly thereafter, she joined the DuPage County Public Defender’s Office as an Assistant Public Defender.  In 2004, she joined a local law firm located in Elmhurst, Illinois where she practice municipal law and prosecuted for the City of Elmhurst and City of Oakbrook Terrace.  In 2009, she took a leap of faith by forming her own law firm where she continues to prosecute for the Village of Wayne and hone her skills as a family law attorney.
Mia currently resides in Dupage County with her husband and two sons.  You may see her at a Blackhawks game rooting for her favorite team or cheering on her sons at a local hockey tournament.
