First: Thank You Mark for all of your help! I recommend Mark without hesitation. Mark really understands criminal law, the system, and his clients' needs. Mark was attentive, thorough and really went above and beyond to solve my problem. I was extremely stressed out by my situation, compounded by the fact that I have never had anything similar happen and had no idea how to approach solving it. In short, my husband is a martial artist of several decades, which also plays a part in his career. Somehow, one of his tools ended up in my suitcase... which as you can imagine... was discovered during travel! It was a horrible experience - especially considering I was travelling to a very high-level corporate meeting! I had no idea how, when, who placed it there (could have been multiple friends or family at any number of locations)! Mark was very patient, walked me through the process, told me clearly what documentation and evidence was needed and absolutely solved my nightmare in less than 4 months! The impact of this would have had a devastating toll on my career. Thank you again, Mark!
My name is Oleg, and recently Mark Bederow have my case dismissed in one of the worst districts in New York city. Needless to say, that Mark handled the case professional and agressive manner. Prosecution thought that they had a slam dunk case, until Mark made his own investigation. I was very satisfied with Mark performance. No false alarms, or phony promises. Straight to the point. Mark is your guy if you in the jam. If you not guilty, you will stay not guilty.
In 2008 a person with whom I had a disagreement accused me of a crime. The accusation was baseless with many inconsistencies, but nonetheless I was arrested and locked up in lower Manhattan for 36 hours before appearing before a judge and being released. The next several months became a waking nightmare. With no evidence against me save a written statement containing numerous contradictions, I expected to see the prosecution's star witness discredited at the first hearing and have the case thrown out. Instead I watched an overly zealous assistant district attorney run circles around two separate defense attorneys at multiple hearings. I sat helpless as opportunities to articulate my position were squandered and subsequently, was arrested two more times based on additional accusations by the plaintiff. Completely discouraged I reached out to a trusted family friend who without hesitation suggested I call Mark Bederow. From my first conversation with Mark I had renewed faith that I could beat the case against me. Mark agreed based on evidence before the court that the charges were without merit and he went to work straightaway shutting down the DA's double talk and bully tactics. At our first appearance I stood next to Mark as he articulated my version of events and for the first time since the ordeal had begun I believed I was being heard. The clarity of Mark's presentation appeared to resonate with judge and I am certain that things began turning my way at that moment. During our second appearance Mark brought additional clarity, exposing several contradictions by the plaintiff in written and sworn statements. This rattled the prosecution and the judge began to openly question the accuser's version of what happened. During our final appearance, the charges were dismissed and the damaged credibility of the plaintiff put me in a powerful position to negotiate a settlement of our joint interests. Mark did more than win my case. He gave me confidence from the beginning that he would do everything in his power to insure a reasonable outcome. Simply knowing I had a skilled, tireless and professional advocate was enough to reduce the stress I had been battling over the preceding months and enabled me to get refocused on other parts of my life. I have recommended Mark to several people over the years and have heard nothing but praise similar to my own.
Mark is an honest and courageous attorney with a sincere passion for justice, the uncanny ability to create rapport, and genuine care for not only his clients, but also for their families. He is highly responsive and displays a calm confidence that instills the like in those that work with him. Mark's work ethic, meticulous attention to detail attached to solid strategy, responsiveness, and ability to prepare a witness set him far ahead of the pack. He is an invaluable asset to anybody in need of top-notch counsel.
Mark Bederow is an excellent, 'dig-in-your-heels' defense attorney: his assessment of the case is spot-on; his knowledge of the issues drives strategy at all times; his upfront communication style -- whether with the client or adversary -- pulls no punches, yet gets the point across every time; and his management of the courtroom environment instills maximum client confidence. He's a great guy as well. No one really wants to need a defense attorney, but I would recommend him in a heartbeat if you do.
I worked with Mark for several years in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. Mark was a bright, hard-working and talented litigator. Mark was also a team player and his colleagues enjoyed working with him. Once Mark left the District Attorney's Office for private practice, I handled a matter in which he was retained counsel. Mark did an outstanding job representing his client.
I worked with Mark at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, and had the opportunity to supervise him in the Complaint Room and the Grand Jury from time-to-time. Mark is a hard working, no nonsense attorney, who is able to effortlessly cut to the heart of the matter and effectively investigate, negotiate, and litigate matters to a successful conclusion. Undoubtedly, Mark will bring these qualities to his law practice on behalf of his clients. I recommend him without reservation.
Mark is a very talented lawyer. While we worked together at the DA's office, Mark handled some very high-profile cases and always got the job done. He "did justice" as a prosecutor and I am sure he continues to do so for his clients in private practice.
I had the pleasure of working with Mark during the time that we worked at the New York County District Attorney's Office. During that time I occasionally had the opportunity to supervise Mark's work. I have always known Mark to be an exceptionally intelligent and hard working attorney with a great deal of integrity. I can wholeheartedly recommend him.
I had the pleasure of working with Mark during the sort of criminal trial that deeply affects everyone involved. Mark and his partner Douglas Grover worked doggedly for their client, an FBI agent accused of murder. I observed Mark eloquently argue legal points and aggressively examine witnesses. At the end of the day, the district attorney was forced to drop the case in large part as a result of Mark's advocacy. I do not hesitate in endorsing his work.
As a man who ran a prosecutor's office and who, before retirement, tried countless complex cases as a medical malpractice trial lawyer, I've seen and helped train a lot of trial lawyers. Recently, I had the good fortune of watching Mark Bederow defend a complex murder case, a case I was covering as an author. Mark's a rare natural. He has instincts and an encyclopedic mind that you can't teach. It was a privilege to watch him, for example, patiently tear into witnesses bit by bit. I made a point of befriending him and intend to recommend him at every opportunity. Of course, he won the case!
Mark is a thoughtful, careful attorney. He cares more than simply about the case; which he handles with great skill. He also cares about the personal effect legal action has upon his client. He has been a very positive influence for my son.
