Marcus A. Roland is a Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rated* attorney who has practiced law in Kentucky for 24 years. He received his B.A. from Union College, his M.A. from the University of Cincinnati, and his J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Marc has practice experience in multiple areas of the law but has spent the largest part of his career handling workers' compensation claims. Marc has represented workers' compensation clients, appeared before workers' compensation Administrative Law Judges and presented arguments to the Kentucky Workers' Compensation Board, the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the Kentucky Supreme Court in over 1,000 workers' compensation matters. Marc is also certified by the International Commission on Healthcare Certification (ICHC) as a Medicare Set-Aside Consultant (MSCC), qualifying him to design, submit and negotiate complex financial arrangements, which protect the interests of Medicare or Medicaid in workers' compensation settlements. Additionally, Marc is a trained mediator approved by the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC)for inclusion on their state mediator roster, a trained meeting facilitator, and is the editor of Roland Legal's workers' compensation blog, Ouch!, recognized by LexisNexis as a top workers' blog three years in a row. Marc serves as the only Kentucky attorney on LexisNexis' Workers' Compensation Advisory Board and exclusively manages LexisNexis' Kentucky workers' compensation law updates. He is also a contributing writer to the latest edition of The Complete Guide to Medicare Secondary Payer Compliance, published by LexisNexis.
