Liza was very empathetic, personable, and direct with me about my case. She was professional and knowledgeable In regards to the rules and guidelines for employment law. Liza was always available if I had questions or concerns. If she didn’t answer her phone she was very prompt with return calls. She made me feel comfortable in a difficult situation. I’m forever thankful and will always consider Liza a friend. I highly recommend her for any employment law situations.

During Liza's first few weeks at Berlitz, the first thing I noticed about her was that she asked the right questions. Not only did she learn the responsibilities of her position quickly, but she sought to expand the horizons of her job description both upward and outward. I worked with her on many projects and got to see her strong work ethic first hand. I can say with confidence that customer relations is important to Liza. She ensured that each conversation with a client ended with a solution pleasing to both the company and the consumer and had an intricate involvement in making many of our programs a success which led to additional business for Berlitz.

About

Elizabeth Asbury Newman practices employment law and civil litigation. She represents current and former employees in a wide range of workplace matters, including claims of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment, as well as in disputes over leave, wages, benefits, and contracts, including non-compete agreements. She has recently lectured on the rights of LGBT employees and the intersections of gender and health law in the workplace.
Liza received her J.D. from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, graduating summa cum laude and first in her class. During law school, she externed at the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Ohio and served as a senior articles editor of the Human Rights Quarterly.
Liza’s prior work experience includes several positions at the intersection of technology and education, as well as a stint as a college radio DJ. She was inspired to go to law school while volunteering for a medical-legal partnership at the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati, where she assisted attorneys in resolving legal issues that affect the health and well-being of children.
Outside of work, Liza enjoys hiking at the Cincinnati Nature Center, birding, and cycling. A native of Cincinnati, she resides in Columbia-Tusculum. Liza tweets about developments in labor and employment law at @LizaANewman.
