Leonard is an excellent attorney. I was having tremendous issues and being harassed at work. Leonard was extremely caring, efficient and trustworthy to work with. He helped me navigate the legal aspect of employment separation and my rights. Without Leonard my employer would have taken advantage of me and quite possibly bullied me into prematurely quitting or even terminated me. I highly recommend Leonard to anyone who wants an attorney who will fight for you and give you proper legal advice.
I went through a rather strenuous and prolonged divorce due to my ex-husband. Things got messy and complicated, but Leonard stuck with me through the whole thing, was there when I needed him, and did an outstanding job giving advice, strategizing, and delivering in the court room. We won my case, and Leonard kept it real the whole time. He actively listens, he gives you the truth, and he’s proactive. He has a great network of colleagues and external resources that he utilizes as well. Hands down, this guy and his law firm get the job done.
Leonard was a very effective manager and leader while at the Oregon Department of Justice. He was supportive of his team leaders and Section. It was a pleasure working with him.
Leonard is a very sharp, capable and committed public servant. His instincts and experience make him a go-to professional. In addition, he's a pleasure to work with.
Leonard is a highly experienced trial attorney who has an extensive criminal and civil litigation background. His talent is making the legally complex simple to understand and telling your story in a compelling way to get you the very best results possible. Winning your case means having an end game in mind and Leonard is always planning for that end game. As an aside he is also an excellent marksman and does not pass up the opportunity to go shooting. Sadly, his shooting skills have never helped him win a case. Back to the legal stuff. While Leonard is passionate about the criminal law and civil rights issues, what drives him is getting the very best results he can in any given situation. Working towards the best achievable outcomes for his clients is his goal and the focus of his practice. He is best known for thinking outside the box and coming up with creative ways to solve complex problems for his clients. Leonard lives in Salem with his wife of twenty-nine years and his twelve-year-old son (an avid boy scout). After law school, Leonard’s wife made him promise to use his powers for good and not evil. Leonard is committed to that promise and will do the best job he can for his clients. When he is not in the courtroom he spend time with his son who is a boy scout.
Leonard started his career as a prosecutor on the Oregon coast. It was during his time as a prosecutor that he became well known for his expertise in criminal law and search and seizure law. Leonard’s career took off as he was recruited by the Police Academy to lead and deliver cutting edge training to law enforcement. Missing the courtroom, Leonard joined the Trial Division of the Oregon Department of Justice as a senior trial attorney litigating the most serious civil suits against the State of Oregon. After becoming the Attorney-in-Charge of the Torts and Employment Section of the Trial Division, his litigation team achieved an unmatched trial success winning twenty-two trials out of twenty-three. Leonard believes that the Government should at all times treat people fairly, within the bounds of the law and leave them with their dignity.
