Kevin Gaughan concentrates his practice in general corporate, contract and real estate matters. His business clients include entities engaged in restaurant, manufacturing, and personal service industries. As well, Mr. Gaughan counsels individuals and businesses in residential and commercial real estate transactions, and landlord-tenant matters.
As a former local government counsel, Mr. Gaughan possesses broad knowledge in general municipal law.
Mr. Gaughan is a graduate of Harvard College, Georgetown University Law School, and he studied International Relations at The London School of Economics and Political Science.
He is the author of At First Light: Strengthening Buffalo Niagara in the New Century, and he’s written and spoken throughout the nation on local governance and Buffalo history.
Beyond his practice, Mr. Gaughan is a longtime Buffalo civic leader and nationally-recognized expert in community renewal. His Chautauqua regionalism conferences set a foundation for Western New York’s economic resurgence. As founder of Let People Decide, his government reform efforts have saved property taxpayers millions of dollars.
Mr. Gaughan’s civic efforts have been profiled in USA Today, the Yale Law Journal, and Voice of America. The Buffalo News and the New York State League of Women Voters have both named Mr. Gaughan an Outstanding Citizen of the Year, and he was the youngest recipient ever of the Red Jacket Medal, presented by the Buffalo History Museum for civic leadership.
