Practice area: Elder law, Estate planning, Medicaid and medicare
My family hired Attorney Low for a consultation to discuss estate planning options for our elderly father. It was not a good experience. We paid $450 for a 90-minute consultation. Attorney Low was 25 minutes late for the appointment, and ended the session after 65 minutes. There was a specific, crucial legal point that she said she would look into as a follow-up to the session. After two weeks of silence, I emailed asking whether she had looked into the issue yet, and noted that this was time-sensitive for our family. I got no response. After another two weeks, I emailed again, asking if she had looked into it. Again, I noted that this was an extremely time-sensitive issue for our elderly father. Again, I got no response. It appeared during the booking process and in the actual consultation that the office --which is a small practice-- was extremely understaffed, and undergoing some turnover. That happens. But the bigger issue is that Attorney Low was disrespectful -- disrespectful of our time by starting late, disrespectful of our finances by ending the consultation two-thirds into the time for which we paid hundreds of dollars, and disrespectful of our needs by failing to follow through at all -- and ignoring multiple attempts to follow up. It was unprofessional.
We had no prior knowledge of Julie so we took a chance and retained her to look after our estate planning - based purely on her impressive web site. We are very happy with the attention and service we received. She was patient with us and explained each phase of the process. She even went above and beyond to settle some problems we were having with our banks. Thank you Julie.
Julie and I worked together for several years, first as team supervisors and later as department managers, so I had an opportunity to see Julie in action as a peer. Here is what I know about Julie: She is a motivated worker. She prides herself in doing a good job and will absolutely give you her best. She is a quick learner. If she doesn't know something, she knows where to go to find out. And shewill rapidly incorporate the new information into her knowledge base and shortly after, will be able to use it functionally. She is a very good leader. She both respects and embraces the people on her team and they recognize that. And as a result they perform. It doesn't hurt that she's as enthusiastic as all get-out. She has a really good heart and fights the good fight. That's rare to find these days and very refreshing. Perhaps the best recommendation I can give is if I had the opportunity to work with Julie at any time in the future, I would jump at the chance. Not only is she good at what she does, she's also fun to work with. It's a no-brainer. You should hire her.
