Mrs. Ho represented me when I was sued for alleged breach of contract / covenant not to compete by my former employer. Not only did she work hard to successfully settle the lawsuit which enabled me to stay employed with my current company, but she also cared a lot and made herself available to me during this stressful period of my life. It was clear Mrs. Ho had a deep empathetic connection with me and my family. I would highly recommend Mrs. Ho for any contract disputes. She was amazing!
Attorney Helen Ho gave me great representation in my employment case against a large healthcare provider. She listens to her clients and gives sound advice based on employment law and her personal experiences. I would highly recommend her to friends and family.
Helen is an amazing leader and advocate for the AAPI community. Her dedication, passion, and leadership were demonstrated throughout her time at Advancing Justice - Atlanta, which she created in 2010 as Asian American Legal Advocacy Center. Her willingness to serve is proven by creating the first non-profit law center dedicated to the civil rights of AAPIs in Georgia and the Southeast. Helen has brought many communities from diverse backgrounds and was able to organize them around issues. It is truly a pleasure to see Helen interact with so many communities and able to bridge the gap between them. She is an excellent communicator and any organization/ companies are lucky to have her.
I had the pleasure of working with Helen during my tenure at CPACS. Helen was a tremendous asset to the organization and left a lasting influence even after her departure. Through her determination, passion, and leadership, she made a tremendous impact on community, legislative, and voter advocacy. When Helen took on a project, you got results! I was not surprised to learn that she founded AALAC and grew the organization to what it is today in just a few years. Any organization would be very lucky to have her.
I've come to know Helen first, as a fan and supporter of her work, next, as a Board Member of her organization, and finally, as a friend. From a distance I saw the tireless work which she put into birthing a non-profit organization called the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center (AALAC). Since inception, this organization has flourished to become part of a larger national group called Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Atlanta. Helen's passion inspired me to eventually become a Board Member, then Board Chair. While serving in AALAC, I saw Helen put the needs of the people above her own needs as she passionately poured herself into serving the Asian American community and other minority groups against policies which were hurtful to many immigrants. She lifted up the challenges of the community on her shoulders and then rally others to help her move the mission forward. In these things, I saw the strength of her character shine through, I saw how one person's will and desire can mobilize a community, and most importantly, I saw how passion is contagious and how it can change people's lives… it changed mine. It has been an honor to have worked alongside Helen as we planted seeds of change in people and in communities which often don't have a voice. When an opportunity should present itself, where you have the honor to work with her or be around her, she will leave a lasting impression on you and your organization.
I've seen few people make the impact on a community that Helen has. When she started the Asian Americans Legal Advocacy Center, she fully committed to its mission. It was her baby, and like any devoted parent, she nurtured her child by doing whatever it took. That meant sacrificing untold hours to make sure everything got done. Helen was not only AALAC's executive director; she was the marketing director, the spokesperson, the manager, and most importantly, a worker bee. She organized, planned, trained people, researched, promoted, fundraised, and did it all with passion and a sense of purpose. She may not have realized it, but Helen modeled an exceptional work ethic for her employees and interns. She worked tirelessly to organize volunteer efforts on the weekends; she made sure metro Atlanta's Asian American community had a seat at the table during the Legislative session; she made the media aware of critical issues affecting the community; and, at the same time, she coordinated events that connected her organization to the community, like SouthEATS and an annual Community Champions Banquet. AALAC made such an impact, it caught the attention of a national advocacy group. It's now a chapter of Asian Americans Advancing Justice. As the group's Atlanta office, the organization is a resource for Asian American communities throughout the Southeast. One of the most impactful initiatives Helen launched is a training program for people interested in running for public office. Georgia's minority populations are growing quickly, but elections haven't caught up. People of color are under-represented locally and at the statehouse. Thanks to AAAJ-A's ‘How to Win an Election' seminar, more people of color are running for office in Georgia. Thanks to Helen's hard work, the faces in the state Capitol will start to resemble the constituents they represent. The lasting impact of Helen's work will be felt for years to come. Her legacy will be the long-term effects of her early work: more Asian Americans running for office, more voices heard at the Capitol, more appreciation of the contributions of Asian American communities in Georgia, and an influential organization that will help shape the cultural landscape throughout the Southeast.
Helen is a fantastic advocate!! Her tireless dedication to her work, her compassion, and legal acumen make her role as the Executive Director of Asian American Legal Advocacy Center (AALAC) a great asset to the Asian American Community in Georgia and across the southeast. Additionally, her vast knowledge and approachable style make her a great leader and mentor. She is a font of knowledge and a pleasure to work with. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with her should jump at the chance!!
