An experienced criminal defense attorney, Emma Shinn spent time as enlisted Marine and as a judge advocate before retiring and opening her own private practice dedicated to representing servicemembers at courts-martial, Physical Evaluation Boards, and administrative separation proceedings. She has represented hundreds of clients accused of everything from homicide to simple assault. While she prefers that her clients not be in the media spotlight, some of her cases have garnered media attention due to the hard-hitting legal work she has done.
Before transitioning back to civilian life, Emma was hand-picked to be the first Officer-in-Charge of the Marine Corps' Defense Counsel Assistance Program, providing complex litigation support to over 90 defense attorneys and support personnel across the globe. She also was a Senior Defense Counsel, a Staff Judge Advocate, and held various other billets within the Marine Corps.
