Practice area: Mediation, Family, Criminal defense, Copyright infringement, Contracts and agreements
I worked with Elizabeth when I lived in Michigan and found her to be a wealth of knowledge and having excellent mediation skills. Recently, I consulted her about a need on the west coast. And on the weekend, no less. She was prompt and provided recommendations and help throughout the next 24 hours until we found local assistance. Her dedication to customers, even knowing we wouldn't be hiring her, is an outstanding quality in an attorney.
Elizabeth was an excellent resource providing training and facilitating contract negotiations at Hino. She trained the procurement team in the basics of terms and conditions, plus the company's stances on certain required language in each legal document type. She'd review documents in a quick and timely fashion, have a one-on-one with you about her notes and then join the negotiations with a supplier. Great negotiation, mediation and customer service skills.
Elizabeth received her Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law and is licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. Before joining Wilson P. Tanner III, PLC, Elizabeth worked as an associate attorney at Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan LLP in New York City where her practice focused primarily on the defense of physicians, hospitals, and long-term care providers involved in medical malpractice litigation. Prior to KBR, Elizabeth worked as assistant general counsel at Hino Motors Manufacturing U.S.A., a Toyota Group Company, and then as an in-house legal consultant for the New York based Internet company, Knovel. Elizabeth's current practice focuses on mediation, family law, copyright infringement defense, and criminal defense.
Prior to law school, Elizabeth served in the U.S. Army 428th Military Police Company and as a cadet in the University of Notre Dame Army ROTC. She studied business, marketing, and secondary education at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. During her time at Saint Mary's, Elizabeth lived and studied in Rome, Italy, taught high school business courses, and worked for the University of Notre Dame. She obtained a bachelor's degree in business and a secondary education teaching license from Saint Mary's.
During law school, Elizabeth served as an executive board member on the MSU College of Law Entertainment and Sports Law Journal, and as president of the MSU College of Law Student Bar Association. She completed a State of Michigan court mediation training program, and worked as a mediator, law clerk, and lab assistant. Elizabeth also had the opportunity to intern for United States Senator Carl Levin.
