About

Carly is a lifelong North Carolinian. After being born and raised in Jacksonville, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for seven years where she received both her law degree and undergraduate degree, majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family on Topsail Island, exploring new restaurants around the Triangle area with friends, and attending Newhope Church in Durham.

I knew I wanted to pursue a career in family law early in law school. With my background in service and community outreach, I knew I could best use my strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with clients who are going through tough times in their lives. I was very involved in pro bono opportunities during my time at the University of North Carolina School of Law, where I immediately gained experience with real clients.
After my first year of law school, I worked for a family law firm in my hometown of Jacksonville, North Carolina, where I learned how to work diligently toward a settlement while simultaneously preparing for a trial if needed. Additionally, I completed an externship at Legal Aid of North Carolina in Durham, working primarily on domestic violence cases to secure civil protective orders for victims and their children. Through this eye-opening experience, I realized my passion for being a zealous advocate for clients in crisis, both in the courtroom and in negotiations. It was during my internship at Wake County Family Court that I decided to practice in Raleigh. I not only fell in love with the city, but also the litigation side of family law.
