When you teach an introductory communication course, the exceptional students always make themselves known, shine, and they eventually become friends. This was the case with Angelik Edmonds. It was obvious why she was a Chancellor's Scholar. She is not only smart and a tenacious worker, but also possesses a tremendous amount of compassion and kindness. Angelik would frequently stop by my office just to check in and see how things were going and share a laugh. I would often insist that she eat some part of my "ridiculously healthy" lunch -- and just to be nice she would oblige. What I have learned is that people who are presented with challenges are often the most generous and genuine. Although her intelligence and intuitive instincts are superb, I suspect that it is her ability to connect with others that will allow her to succeed as she pursues a passion for law and criminal justice. Angelik Edmonds, super-charged with drive and ambition, also has the soft skills that understand and respect folks from many different backgrounds. She will use all of her gifts to improve and make better the lives of other people. Without reservation, I wholeheartedly endorse Angelik Edmond for any professional endeavor.
